PokerSniffer Features

Texas Holdem Calculator

Below is a description of the current features in PokerSniffer.

PokerSniffer - Texas Holdem Calculator

Connect to Poker Client

Connect to poker client (auto read):
Press down the connect button and drag it onto the table. When the sniffer finds the table it will place itself under the poker application. Once connected, no further input is needed. Press the button again to disconnect.

Offline Calculations

Offline Calculations:
When not connected you can press the cards to invoke a calculation. You can change the number of opponents as well by clicking on the small numbers below the cards.

Hand Rang and Win Percent

Your hand and win percent:
The middle section displays your hand rang (pair, trips etc), your total outs and the associated hands which you are drawing to (if any). The current nuts hand is shown as well. Most importantly, your win percent is calculated and shown with the horizontal bar at the bottom. The win percent will be recalculated each time an opponent folds or another card falls. This information will give you a supreme edge in the game.

Use the 'always calculate' check box to continue the calculations even if you are not active in the hand.

Opponent Groups

Opponent Sklansky Group Interval:
You can adjust the interval of hands your opponents are likely to play. This will affect your win percent chance in the current hand. Here is shown the case where your opponents play hands in the Sklansky group 1 to 7. Change this by clicking the radio circle buttons. If the table is extremely tight you may want to set this to group 3. If you have the feeling that everyone plays every hand they get, click the left most radio button (no group). The effect of this is as follows: if the flop is 3 low cards and you have put your opponents on group 1 to 3, you will most likely be in front if you have a pair in this spot. The win percent will show this. But, if an Ace falls on the turn you will properly be way behind.

Hand Reading

Hand reading:
Place the mouse over the hand distribution area on the left side of PokerSniffer, and the possible hands will be shown in a tooltip. The hands correspond to the selected group of your opponents. Because it would be too confusing to show one pair and high card hands, this hand reading feature only shows poker hands from two pair and above.

Hand Improvements

Improvements:
Your Improvements shows the percent chance you have of hitting anything that will improve your hand on the next card to fall. This includes cards which may also improve the table. In the case pictured you have about 17% chance that the next card will give you a straight.

ToolTips:
Move the mouse over hand label to see a complete list of all hand groups. Move the mouse to the win percent bar to see a odds representation of the win percent value.

Expected Value:
The term Expected Value (EV) of a Texas Holdem poker hand refers to the expected worth of that hand played over time. PokerSniffer displays your total EV as illustrated. You can also move the mouse over this value to see the EV according to your position. The unit for this EV is average profit in big bets. If you are playing at a $3/$6 table, and are dealt pocket kings, their EV is (1.67 x $6 big bet) = $10.02. If the EV value is less than zero, the hand will lose money in the long run.

Mini view

Mini View:
Double click the title bar to change the view into the mini mode. Double click the title bar again to restore to normal view.

Always on top

Always On Top:
Keep PokerSniffer on top of the poker client by pressing the 'Always on Top' icon. This is useful if playing many tables at the same time on small screens, lab top PCs etc.
